Andrew receiving his award from the IET for helping improve safety on the UK Railways

I left the RAF during the 2008/09 financial crisis after serving 6 years in the RAF working on Chinook helicopters. I fell into the rail industry via a Career Transition Partnership (CTP) employment fair, where I’ve stayed ever since. 14 years later, I’ve written the training course I would have wanted during my transition from the forces to working on trains.

When I left the RAF I knew nothing about trains, I didn’t even travel on them! The learning curve was steep; I’d spend most evenings and weekends reading train manuals and schematics so I’d feel like I knew what I was doing.

My course is designed to reduce this learning curve for anyone leaving the forces. You'll learn how the industry is structured, how trains work, how all commonly used train systems work and some helpful hints/tips on securing that first job.

TESTIMONIALS

"I thought the course was very informative especially as I had no prior industry knowledge. I believe it will give me a good basis to work from. Andrew was able to keep the topics interesting with his stories and his experiences.
